Glad Tidings International School

16 September 2015

A group of students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic went on a Youth Expedition Project (YEP) to Cambodia last September and brought with them a box of Tangram Tees - donated by Fabricate.

The students brought the tees to Glad Tidings International School (GTIS), Kampong Speu and worked out a simple lesson for Year 1-3 students. They were divided into groups of five to seven and a teacher from GTIS was assigned to each group to guide them along.Six YEP volunteers were in charge of leading the class activity. They started by introducing how to position the shapes on the t-shirt and practiced with a few different tangrams such as a rabbit, a goat...etc.

Once the students were familiar with the Tangram Tee, they then challenged each student to be creative and come up with anything they liked. They were given half an hour for this task and had to present their design to the class and explain where they got their idea from.

Some students created portraits, while another created a tree-looking structure. The students had a lot of fun and enjoyed the activity which was very different from their usual lessons.
